Our History

Crossroads Community Church was a church planting project of the North American Baptist Conference.

The beginnings of this church plant was firmly rooted in the belief that the world is changing around us and, therefore, our understanding of how to relate the gospel to our community must be fluid, as the Spirit leads, allowing God to continually reshape our vision for ministry. In 2007, a group of believers from Oak Street Baptist Church caught a vision that looked to the future emphasizing the importance of investing ministry efforts in the next generation. With much prayer and counsel from our conference, this group of believers stepped out in faith and began meeting for worship and Bible study on September 9, 2007 at the Howard Johnson Banquet Room in Burlington.

From there, the church moved its meeting location to the Burlington Convention Hall in downtown Burlington, and on April 18, 2008 our conference leadership approved our constitution enabling us to begin the development of our own membership and leadership. On May 25, 2008 our first members were inducted with a charter membership numbering 52, and on September 13, 2008 Crossroads was recognized as a fully autonomous church. In 2022, we purchased the Hawkeye Newspaper building at 800 S. Main Street and conducted our first worship gathering there on August 26, 2023.
